A：孟山都确实开发了转基因小麦Monsanto's MON 71800。而且也拿到了FDA的食品许可： “Monsanto received approval from the FDA for its use in food”。（http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetically_modified_wheat）。但是在2004年孟山都撤回了EPA的申请“but withdrew its EPA application in 2004”。主要原因是：“However, farmers were worried about the potential loss of markets in Europe and Asia due to public refusal of the end-product,[33] [34] so Monsanto withdrew its EPA application for Roundup-Ready Wheat.[35]”由于欧亚消费者的担心，导致美国农民不愿意种植转基因小麦。农民怕失去欧亚出口市场。所以孟山都撤回了申请。
到现在为止，全世界都没有转基因小麦销售。

美国，全世界没有转基因小麦不是不许上桌，而是FDA已经批准上桌，但是没有市场（欧亚的出口市场，不是担心美国的市场），所以孟山都只好撤回申请。
